Here is our rough draft concept map. Big Project: How to Create a Garden.
We are going to connect gardening to a different part of the world. Students are going to research the benefits and differences different of gardening in a different area.
You still need the big project in the center. Once you build the garden, and have either flowers or vegetables, you need to decide what the students would do with them. If you plant vegetables, you could have a vegetable soup dinner, or sell them at a Farmer's Market. If you plant flowers, you could take them to a elderly care home, sell them at a Farmer's Market. Or you could think of other things to do with both. You need that big idea in the middle and then you need a dinner or sale with advertising, invitations, etc.
